Culturall New Year’s Newsletter January/February/March 2012

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

we hope 2011 had a lot of interesting cultural events in store for you. We would also like to wish you all the best for the new year!

First of all we would like to present our collector’s calendar 2012. If you are a customer with a collection order or a simple bundestheater.at-CARD or a subscriber of our newsletter, you will be entitled to the whole collector’s calendar or to some reductions

In order to receive the calendar, please click following link:

If you are entitled to reductions, they will be subtracted automatically, if you log in with your correct user name.

The collector’s calendar doesn’t only offer you an overview of all advance sale dates, but also – if you stick in all pictures and return the calendar to us – a print from a limited edition signed by the artist.

We would be delighted if you supported the project „Young Art“/“JungeCunst“ simply by Voting. Each month six to eight works of art will be presented. By voting for the favourite work of art all our internet customers will determine a winner. . Every week two tickets for the Volksoper Vienna, Vienna State Opera or Burgtheater will be raffled off among the participants.

You are also very welcome to take part in the auction of the originals.  As it is still the beginning of this project, you have the best chance to purchase by auction a painting at a good price (starting around 380 Euros).

You can also purchase a print signed by the artist of any work of art that has been entered into the competition.

1) On our own behalf:

  • In cooperation with the theatres we have been offering print@home for all venues of the Vienna State Opera and the Burgtheater since last October. At the moment this service for the Volksoper Vienna is only available for our birthday invitations.

  • On January 27, 2012, we will present the new version of our website – including many improvements following your suggestions – wait and see!

2) Burgtheater:

  • Visitors of the Akademietheater and the Kasino can use the parking garage at Beethovenplatz for 5 hours at a reduced fee of 5 euros. The required time credit ticket “Gutzeitkarte” is available at the box office (head usher) in the Akademietheater. On leaving the parking garage insert the ticket of the parking garage into the automat and AFTER that the “Gutzeitkarte”. The price will then be reduced to 5 euros (flat rate).
  • Werner Schneyder is celebrating his 75th birthday in the Burgtheater on January 22 - Congratulations! We hope you will enjoy Werner Schneyder and his programme "Ich bin konservativ"!
  • Unfortunately, a mistake splipped into the Burgtheater Leporello : On Feburar 22 th, there is no package performance for "Zyklus Burg aktuell" in the Akademietheater.
  • "Peter Pan" (recommended for children 7 and older): there is a 50% reduction for children for this play – please click the button „children’s ticktet” before choosing the seats.

  • Europa im Diskurs – Debating Europe: "Is Europe’s unity in danger?" in Burgtheater on January 22, 2012, at 11 am (in English and German). Admission 7 euros, students 5 euros

  • Congratulations!  We would like to congratulate ensemble member Joachim Meyerhoff – he has been awarded the Franz Tumler literary prize for "Alle Toten fliegen hoch". The cycle of this theatre project was performed during the last seasons and provided the basis of the novel that was awarded the Franz Tumler literary prize. At the moment you can see Joachim Meyerhoff inShakespeares "Was ihr wollt", in Arthur Schnitzlers "Professor Bernhardi" and in  Thomas Winterbergs "Die Kommune"

3)Volksoper Vienna

After 50 performances of „Tannhäuser in 80 Minuten“ host Robert Meyer will appear in the new solo show "Volksoper Tierisch". "Volksoper Tierisch". In cooperation with the orchestra of the Volksoper and leader Bettina Gradinger he has created a humorous evening dedicated to animals with Sergej Prokofjew’s classic „Peter und der Wolf“, Alan Ridout’s „Ferdinand der Stier“ for speaker and solo violin, and Camille Saint-Saëns' "Der Karneval der Tiere" for chamber orchestra. A sensational success: „Die spinnen, die Römer!“ by Stephen Sondheim. Broadway star Stephen Sondheim (*1930) first gave proof of his enormous writing talent with „West Side Story“ (Leonard Bernstein) and „Gypsy“ (Jule Styne). In 1962 he wrote the score and the libretto for the musical „A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum“, which became his greatest success. It is an farce based on all  21(!) ancient Roman comedies of Plautus. The turbulent and crazy story in combination with its hilarious songs made this musical a box office hit. Now „Die spinnen, die Römer!“ (= “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum“) is the first musical premiere of this season at the Volksoper. Werner Sobotka is the Volksoper-debutant director and Ramesh Nair  the choreographer; Robert Meyer and after him  Sigrid Hauser will perform as Pseudolus: Pseudolus is the slave, who leaves no stone unturned to win his freedom. Now Robert Meyer and Sigrid Hauser are among the stars, who have all played the leading part in this musical, like  Broadway comedy legend Zero Mostel, Phil Silvers, Nathan Lane and Whoopi Goldberg.  The American  David Levi will be conducting the orchestra of the Volksoper.
Unfortunately, KS Marja Liposek had to cancel her performance in Candide: The Volksoper managed to engage American musical star Kim Criswell, who will perform as the "Old Lady" in Bernstein‘s Candide. (ATTENTION! Only for following performances: Premiere: So. 22.1., Tuesday 24.1., Thursday 26.1. and Sunday 29.1.12!!!)

4) Vienna State Opera

5) Leopld Museum: With your login data you can also purchase tickets for the Leopold Museum on our website

FOR THE LAST TIME (at least this season 2011/2012)

Customer recommendations:

As you may know, all our customers, who book tickets on http://www.culturall.com and who have subscribed to our newsletter, receive a “3 minute”-questionnaire after every performance they visit. Among other things you can recommend the performance or state if the performance was recommended to you. In the future we would like to make individual suggestions and special offers to you based on your questionnaire. This requires a larger database. Until then we would like to inform you especially about performances of the next three months, that were recommended by more than 80 percent of the audience. For some of these performances tickets are not yet available in the advance sale and for the others there are still plenty of tickets available.
As an aide to orientation we state the percentage of visitors, that have recommended the performance lately, in front of the venue and the title of the production.
